SPECIAL PROJECT COORDINATOR, EVENTS (contract)
Reporting to the Manager of Events, Skate Canada has a one year contract position open for Special Project Coordinator, Events. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the management of several major event projects with a focus on providing primary administrative support for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2013.
The successful candidate must be able to work weekends and flexible hours in order to meet deliverables. Candidate will be required to travel occasionally within Canada to attend events.

REPORTS TO Director of Events (Project Manager)
Principle Duties Include:
· With a focus on the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships, acts in support of event project management structure as Special Project Coordinator. Assist with coordination of cross-functional teams, and the event project leadership team to plan for all event details, ensuring coordination of information distribution to all Skate Canada National Office departments and all cross-functional teams as applicable
· Assists with event planning process, and coordinates execution of cross-functional team meetings (creating and maintaining agendas, notes/minutes, task status reports, action trackers, etc.), and general communication.
· Coordinates production of event related materials; contributes to various reports (for meetings, funding partners, etc.)
· Contributes to department planning/budgeting activities related to the Events area and adheres to the financial parameters as set out in the approved event budgets; provides operational budget support and tracking for each event.
· Assists with day to day administration of all event financial records and accounts related to events.
· Assists with financial reconciliation of each event ensuring that all outstanding invoices are issued and charge backs are pursued. Ensure all incoming event related expenses are paid in a timely fashion (approved by Director)
· Attend events, volunteer meetings and pre-event site visits as required.
General Duties:
· Assists with ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements and for ensuring a safe and respectful workplace.
· Perform the duties stated as a responsible employee of the Association observing and supporting all policies and procedures as set by the Board of Directors and observing all policies and requirements as outlined in the Skate Canada National Office Human Resources Policies and Procedures.
· Represent the vision, mission and values of Skate Canada, and conducts oneself according to ethical standards generally accepted in business.

Qualifications:
· University degree in Business or Sports Management or equivalent education/work experience.
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in an events project management position including experience working with volunteers.
· Bilingual in English/French required.
· Background in figure skating an asset
Compensation:
Salary range is $40,000 - $48,000 paid over 12 months in equal installments bi-weekly. This position is not eligible for benefits. Vacation time will be accumulated at 1.25 days per month. Compensation is based on all hours worked. Due to the nature of this role, the average work week will be approximately 37 hours with some weeks being higher (eg. during event season) and some being lower (eg. outside of event season).
