Jamie Sale and David Pelletier named honorary chairs for 2007 HomeSense Skate Canada International
(September 18, 2007 - Québec City, QC) - Skate Canada announced at a press conference in Québec City today that 2002 Olympic Pair Champions Jamie Salé and David Pelletier have been named honorary chairs of the 2007 HomeSense Skate Canada International.
The 2007 HomeSense Skate Canada International will take place Nov. 1 – 4 at the Colisée Pepsi in Québec City.
In addition to their Olympic title, Salé and Pelletier were crowned the 2001 World Pair Champions and were three-time Canadian Pair Champions (2000, 2001, 2002). Salé and Pelletier were also awarded the Lou Marsh Trophy as Canada’s top athletes in 2001, and they will be inducted into the Skate Canada Hall of Fame at the 2008 BMO Canadian Figure Skating Championships in Vancouver in January.
“We are thrilled about being honorary chairs for Skate Canada at the Skate Canada International Grand Prix event this year in Quebec City! Skate Canada also announced at the press conference that the week of Oct. 14 – 21 has been declared Skating Week in Québec City. Both residents of and visitors to Québec City will have the opportunity to participate in Skating Week activities, such as public skating sessions, local skating club performances and a synchronized skating demonstration, much of which will be held at Place d’Youville in downtown Québec City.
