2010 Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships to be held in Ottawa
(December 4, 2009 - OTTAWA, ON) – The 2010 Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships will be held in Ottawa, Ontario. Skate Canada will hold the event at the Bell Sensplex from April 2-4, 2010. Approximately 800 adult competitors will compete in five disciplines: free skate, interpretive, dance, pair and synchronized skating.
This year, under a new event structure, approximately 40 adult synchronized skating teams will also compete. Adult synchronized teams originally attended the BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships but will now compete alongside the rest of the adults here.
“Every year this event brings out adult skaters who have found a new passion in skating and proves that skating is not just for the young but also the young at heart,” said William Thompson, Skate Canada Chief Executive Officer. “At this event you can always feel the friendly atmosphere but also the competitive edge and we are pleased to bring the event back to Ottawa.”
Ottawa has previously hosted the event in 2006 in conjunction with the HomeSense National STARSkate Championships.
“We are excited to host the 2010 Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships at the Bell Sensplex in April,” said Brad Kinnaird, General Manager of the Bell Sensplex. “We look forward to welcoming the competitors from across Canada and partnering with Skate Canada to provide a world class competition for the athletes and spectators alike.”
